Crusaders Compete at the Yale Physics Olympics

April 7th, 2025

A team of talented students - Sid Thapa '25, Bella Henao '26, and Lilly Torrance '26- proudly represented Holy Cross High School at the 2025 Yale Physics Olympics, earning an impressive placement in the top half of all competing teams. Our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance throughout the competition.

The Yale Physics Olympics, held on April 5, 2025, brings together high school students from across the region to compete in a series of challenging, hands-on physics-based events. Teams are tested on their problem-solving skills, creativity, and knowledge of physical principles in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Competing against about 40 other teams, they took on five challenging, physics-based events — from measuring an unknown quantity, optimizing a process, or constructing a device to perform a function. One of the signature challenges included solving Fermi Problems, which require creative reasoning and clever estimation skills.
