“Giving Joshua the opportunity to attend Holy Cross renewed my belief in HOPE: there is light in the darkness, good people do exist, hard work does pay off, and being true to yourself brings great reward. With the personal support and encouragement from the teachers and staff at Holy Cross, my son has found a home...Holy Cross has strengthened my family’s direction and core values by transforming Joshua into an amazing young man.”
- Nichole Holland (mother of Joshua ’23 & Matthew '26)

FAQs
WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND?
The Annual Fund supplies monies for Holy Cross High School’s yearly operating budget. The cost of a private school education is such that tuition and fees do not cover the total cost of educating each student. The difference is made up by gifts to the Annual Fund which is critical for the support of the school’s entire program. Holy Cross students benefit directly.
Holy Cross High School's Annual Fund campaign opens on July 1st of each year and ends on June 30th of the following year.
WHY NOT JUST RAISE TUITION?
Holy Cross, like all other private schools, cannot be tuition-driven. Tuition costs would be unrealistic, and the diversity of the student body would be compromised. Holy Cross covets a diverse setting and believes an inclusive community is integral to the educational experience.
WHAT DOES THE ANNUAL FUND PAY FOR?
Annual Fund dollars are used exclusively to support Holy Cross High School's operating budget. That means that it pays for the electricity in the building, a teacher's salary, paint brushes in the art room, music stands in the music room, financial aid for our students, basketballs, baseball bats, and much much more.
WHAT ABOUT MAJOR RENOVATIONS? DOES THE ANNUAL FUND PAY FOR THOSE TOO?
No, those are paid through Capital Giving dollars which are composed of major gifts. Capital gifts meet building and endowment needs that cannot be covered by tuition. Unlike Annual Fund dollars, Capital donations do not have to be spent within that fiscal year.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANNUAL GIVING AND CAPITAL GIVING?
Simply put, the Annual Fund pays for day-to-day expenses. Capital Funds pay for major projects. Annual Giving yields survival. Capital Giving yields growth and expansion.
I CAN'T AFFORD TO MAKE A LARGE DONATION. WOULD ANY GIFT I GIVE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Actually, yes. All gifts matter and make a difference. Participation by all is extremely important. Our Holy Cross community consists of 12,000+ alumni, 500+ present parents and an infinite number of people who have been affected by Holy Cross. Can you imagine how much money would be raised if all gave a minimum of $25-$50? Your generosity reaffirms, nourishes and strengthens the value of a Holy Cross High School education.
