Crusaders Give Back on Annual Day of Service
September 29th, 2023
During the Annual Day of Service at Holy Cross High School, students and faculty came together to give back to the community as part of the Homecoming Weekend activities. After attending a morning mass, everyone eagerly engaged in various community service projects. Some of these projects took place on the school campus, while others involved venturing off-campus to help others.
This year's off-campus sites included: St. Vincent dePaul shelter & thrift store, Brass City Harvest, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Girls, Inc., Catholic Academy of Waterbury, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. John the Evangelist School. On campus, students cleared brush, worked on sandwiches/snack bags with Step by Step and more.
This year's Day of Service was done to honor the memory of Father Francis E. Grogan, a faculty member who tragically died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The spirit of generosity and unity filled the air as participants worked diligently to make a positive impact on those in need. It was a day filled with selflessness and compassion, showcasing the true essence of the Holy Cross community.
