Holy Cross High School Announces Three New Board Members

Holy Cross High School is pleased to welcome Lisa Massimo Bushka ‘89, Devan Eason ’18 and Brigadier General John P. Lawlor, Jr. ’83, to its Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2024. These three individuals bring a wealth of experience, energy, leadership, and expertise to the school community. Their dedication to excellence in their respective fields mirrors the values and mission of Holy Cross High School, and they are sure to make a significant impact on the school's future. They will serve under the leadership of Board Chair, Atty. Jack Senich ’84.
“John, Lisa and Devan are wonderful additions to our Board,” said Atty. Senich. “I know they will offer unique insights through the lens of their own life experiences. Speaking on behalf of the entire Board, I look forward to working with them as we move Holy Cross High School forward and invest in its future.”

Pellegrino, President of Holy Cross. “The governance structure of our school provides key elements of oversight, expertise, support and advocacy. I am really fortunate to have these three immensely talented people joining me in a partnership that has the sustainability and growth of the school as its singular focus.”
Lisa Massimo Bushka ‘89
Mrs. Bushka brings a plethora of experience and expertise in the worlds of marketing, communications and finance. In a career spanning three decades, she has worked with some of the world’s leading global brands including General Electric Company, Hitachi Energy and Akkodis. She is currently the Vice President, External Communications with Akkodis where she is responsible for building corporate reputation and shaping stakeholder perceptions.
In addition to being an alumna of Holy Cross High School, Mrs. Bushka has served as a liaison to the Board’s Advancement Committee, adding a unique and informative perspective on how donors receive and react to information in today’s marketplace. She is also the proud parent of current student, Tyler Bushka ’26 and a lifelong practicing Roman Catholic, “I am honored to have the opportunity to give back and support this institution, whose ideals and mission I firmly believe in, in this elevated capacity..I feel that my professional background with several global organizations coupled with my sincere desire to collaborate and share my time, talent and faith, will contribute positively to the existing team and ultimately, help to further the school’s mission of total Christian education of young men and women.”
Devan Eason ’18
In a very short time since her graduation from Holy Cross High School, Ms. Eason has emerged as one of her generation’s admirable leaders. Since the age of sixteen, she has been active in the city of Waterbury, supervising and coaching young children through the North End Recreation Center. During her undergraduate years, her role in campus residence life gave her a unique and relevant look at the experiences of today’s high school graduates and their transition to college. Currently, she is a Site Coordinator with Waterbury Bridge to Success. She is charged with coordinating various site activities and events and fostering positive relationships with staff, students, parents and external partners.
"My upbringing in a Catholic household, coupled with attending parochial school for the majority of my formative years, has provided me with invaluable insights into the essence of community engagement and its meaningful impact. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity, as an alumni, to return and contribute to the community that played such a pivotal role in shaping me into the person I am today.”
Brigadier General John P. Lawlor, Jr. ’83
Gen. Lawlor is the current Director of Public Works & Engineering for the City of Meriden.
In this senior executive level position, he serves a community of 62,000 residents. He provides oversight for administration, capital project development, engineering, highways, fleet, facilities, flood control, and solid waste management. He is also on many municipal boards and often creates and leads teams when addressing various projects/issues/initiatives facing the community.
A Waterbury, Connecticut native, Gen. Lawlor came from a military family. He served in the United States Army in many positions of increasing responsibility culminating as the Deputy Commanding General of the US Army Special Warfare Center and School (Airborne) and Special Operations Center of Excellence, Ft Gragg, NC.
“As an alumni Crusader ‘83, I know the value that a Holy Cross experience can make in a person’s life. Holy Cross provided the solid Christian foundation that allowed me to have both a successful military and civilian career. I would be pleased to join you in continuing to provide leadership and guidance for this fine institution so that others could realize the same fulfillment and success that I have.”
