Richard was not only a loving husband of over 52 years to his wife Patricia and a father to 8 children, all of whom attended Holy Cross High School consecutively from 1987 to 2009. He embodied everything positive in this world. Richard was a warm hearted, hilarious, loving, the kindest soul, his children’s biggest fan and a friend to all. As a proud member of the Father’s club he encouraged his children’s engagement and cherished attending and volunteering at countless games, theater productions, the Holy Cross bizarre, Oronoke After Dark and many other school events. Rick believed in always being a positive light to others around him and made it his mission to give back to the community. Richard spearheaded the youth involvement of the March of Dimes starting at just 19, speaking at all high schools around the city to shine a light on the March of Dimes and the impact it had on our community and our people. Richard’s warmth, energy and infectious personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
To honor Richard’s legacy, we have established The Richard Buell Family Scholarship, a one time $1,000 dollar award, given annually to a current student who is a rising sophomore, junior or senior who embodies some of the same values and qualities as our dear Father. The recipient will be:
