Course Highlights
Here are a few of the classes offered in our Health & Wellness Department.
Crusader Seminar I: This course is designed to help incoming freshmen transition to the educational program and supportive community of Holy Cross High School. Coursework includes instruction in the following areas: understanding learning styles; developing a growth mindset; managing time effectively; setting goals; applying effective reading, note-taking, and test-taking strategies; seeking assistance; and, understanding the values of the Portrait of the Crusader.
Health and Wellness I: Through Health and Wellness I, students study the functions and interactions of the body systems and analyze the relationship between these systems and optimal health. They also examine the impact of nutrition, fitness, mental health, and substances on health, welfare, and personal fulfillment. Through the learning activities in this course, students practice their skills of informed decision making while planning for dietary needs, constructing a personal fitness plan, and working to maintain mental health.
