Art Students Visit the Yale University Department of Conservation
February 4th, 2025
Faculty members, Rosanne Shea, Aleta Dubecky and Lucy Gallagher '17, accompanied ten Art and Science students to the Yale University Department of Conservation. During their visit, conservators specializing in works on paper, paintings, and three-dimensional art objects shared their expertise in restoring and conserving artworks from around the world. These pieces ranged in age from hundreds to thousands of years old. Each conservator provided insight into their academic journey, including their undergraduate majors, master's work, and specialized experience in the field of conservation.
Following this, they were hosted at the lithography, etching, and fine art printmaking shop by Irene Bednarczyk '10. The students gained invaluable knowledge from this experience, discovering new possibilities for their future careers.
