Holy Cross High School to Host A 9/11 Memorial Tribute: A Special Remembrance of Father Francis E. Grogan, C.S.C. & Waterbury Area Residents

Holy Cross High School and the City of Waterbury are honored to host A 9/11 Memorial Tribute: A Special Remembrance of Father Francis E. Grogan, C.S.C. & Waterbury Area Residents. This tribute will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in the Blasius Family Auditorium at Holy Cross High School on 587 Oronoke Road in Waterbury. A pre-event reception will be held at 6:30pm with the Memorial Tribute following at 7:00pm. Admission is open to the public.

“We welcome all members of the Greater Waterbury area to join us for this event which is open to the public ” said Dr. Thomas C. Pellegrino, President, Holy Cross High School. “Coming together as a community is an important way for us to honor those lost and embrace with gratitude what we have.”

“We want to remember the loss of Father Francis E. Grogan, C.S.C., a cherished priest at Holy Cross High School in the 1970s as well as the 9/11 victims and first responders from the Waterbury area,” said Larry Chicaurello ’72, organizer of the event. “It is a touching event and a special way for us to honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day.” 

This is the second year that Holy Cross is hosting this special evening. Special guests include: The Honorable Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr. '79, Mayor of The City of Waterbury, Fred Spagnolo, Chief of the Waterbury Police, Stephen Ayotte, ’72 Waterbury Deputy Fire Chief, Police Pipes & Drums of Waterbury, Police Color Guard, Fire Color Guard and Waterbury First Responders, Rev. James Sullivan and Monsignor Thomas Ginty, ‘76.
